  • Every 4–6 weeks. You'll know it's time when the bag looks spent. Subscribers get a reminder email too.

  • Almost all. The blend covers the broad nutritional needs of bonsai — indoor and outdoor, deciduous and evergreen. We don’t recommend it for Natives though.

  • Technically, yes. It's fertiliser. But we formulated it for bonsai and that's what we'll stand behind.

  • Native species often prefer lower phosphorus. We're working on a native-specific blend — sign up to the mailing list and we'll let you know when it's ready.

  • Fertiliser is only one part of the picture — light and water matter too. But at least you can cross "feeding" off the worry list permanently. Check out our free care guide for the rest.

  • Short answer: always. Your bonsai lives in a tiny pot with a limited amount of soil — it can't send roots out searching for nutrients the way a tree in the ground can. Without regular feeding, the soil gets depleted and your tree slowly starves. Fertilising isn't optional; it's one of the most important things you can do to keep your bonsai healthy. For outdoor bonsai in Australia, the main growing season runs from early spring (September) through autumn (April) — that's when your tree is actively growing and needs nutrients most. Ease off during the hottest weeks of summer if growth slows down. Indoor bonsai grow year-round, so feed them year-round. Deciduous trees can stop once the leaves drop. One Bonsai Brew bag lasts 4–6 weeks, so you're looking at roughly 5–7 bags per tree across the growing season.
